The Tactical Assault Kit is the official Department of Defense designation for the Team Awareness Kit (TAK) application. It serves as a comprehensive tool for mission planning, geospatial analysis, Full Motion Video (FMV) viewing, and system administration. This advanced software solution allows for a significant reduction in operational equipment by transitioning from a traditional tactical laptop to a streamlined commercial mobile device.
The geospatial engine and communication components of the Tactical Assault Kit adhere to both Department of Defense (DoD) and industry standards. The core platform's extensibility is facilitated through the Software Development Kit available at tak.gov. This SDK empowers partners to develop mission-specific capabilities or contribute to enhancing the baseline structure. Users can pre-load data into ATAK or access it through network downloads.
